As part of the Dana-Farber Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Collaboration, BIDMC, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) are partnering to build New England’s first and only dedicated, freestanding inpatient hospital for adult cancer patients. Together, we are harnessing next-generation diagnostics and technology to deliver extraordinary, personalized care—and redefine cancer care for the next century. To meet this challenge, we are establishing the Machine Learning Center for Pathology—a secure, pathologist-led research environment designed to drive responsible innovation in anatomic pathology using artificial intelligence (AI). Douglas Krakower, MD, has been appointed Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. As Division Chief, Dr. Krakower will continue his 17-year affiliation with the Division of Infectious Diseases. An outstanding physician and mentor, a renowned researcher in HIV prevention, and a highly effective teacher, Dr. Krakower will continue to foster BIDMC’s culture of excellence in clinical care, research, and education in infectious diseases, while expanding its scope, expertise, and impact. The BIDMC Pathology Department is rapidly growing and expanding its faculty, fellowships, programs, lab offerings, research. We’re also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for pathology and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI’s internationally recognized cancer team.
