The Division of Surgical Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a breast surgical oncologist for the BreastCare Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The position will be reporting to the Chief of Breast Surgical Oncology at BIDMC, and will also hold clinical privileges at BIDMC and participate in Tumor Board and Multidisciplinary Clinic at BIDMC. The Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking an academic clinician, leader and scholar to serve as Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery and Co-Director of the BreastCare Center at BIDMC. Candidates should be board certified in general surgery, fellowship trained in breast surgical oncology, and be eligible for a full Massachusetts medical license. Ameeka Pannu, MD, has been selected as Director of Cardiac Critical Care. This is a new position that reflects our department’s expanding role in the critical care capacities at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Department Chair Daniel Talmor, MD, MPH, spoke about the responsibilities of this new position: “This important new role was developed as the department takes on greater responsibility for critical care in the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The new director will work under the Vice Chair for Critical Care, Todd Sarge, MD, to ensure that we continue to teach, learn, and innovate in this important area. Dr. Pannu already serves as the chair of the hospital code committee and has held leadership roles in our cardiac fellowship programs. This combination of experience will allow her to have an important positive impact on the care of all our patients with serious cardiovascular disease.”

Paul A. VanderLaan, MD, PhD, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and BIDMC, and director of Surgical Pathology, is the recipient of the Excellence in Education Award by the American Society of Cytopathology. The award recognizes a pathologist for their contributions to the field of education in cytopathology. He will receive this honor on November 8, 2025, during the ASC’s 73rd Annual Scientific Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. He is dedicated to advancing cytopathology, having published numerous significant research articles over the past year.
