Jonathan B. Kruskal, MD, PhD

A South African native, Jonathan B. Kruskal, MD, PhD, received his MBChB from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and his PhD in molecular biology and liver tumor physiology from UCT Medical School. He emigrated from South Africa to the United States in 1987 and completed his radiology residency training at Harvard Medical School’s New England Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Kruskal became chief of Abdominal Imaging in 2001 and chair of Radiology in 2008.

 

An internationally recognized lecturer and teacher, Dr. Kruskal was named president of the American Roentgen Ray Society (2021), the first and oldest radiology society in the U.S. He is a prolific author, has written hundreds of scholarly publications, and is consultant to the editor for RadioGraphics (2021–2026), one of the premier education journals in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Kruskal is also at the forefront of quality improvement initiatives in radiology, particularly in peer-learning efforts.

We have more than 65 Harvard Medical School (HMS) faculty physicians who provide radiography, CT, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, angiography, and interventional radiology services. We are committed to training our future radiologists while pursuing advancements in basic science, technology, and health services research to create a healthy future for our patients and their families.
