The President and Provost of Harvard University have appointed Muneeb Ahmed, MD, FSIR, as the Miriam H. Stoneman Professor of Radiology, effective January 1, 2025.

As stated on the Harvard Medical School (HMS) website, endowed professorships, such as this one, are the “highest honor [HMS] can bestow upon a faculty member,” as they “recognize extraordinary clinicians, researchers, and educators who serve on the HMS quadrangle or as faculty at one of HMS’ affiliated institutions.”

Muneeb Ahmed, MD, joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) as a Cancer Radiology Research Fellow in 2000, began his residency with us in 2004, and served as chief resident in 2007. After completing his post-doctoral fellowship in radiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he returned to BIDMC as a staff radiologist in 2009. Today, he serves as the division chief and vice chair of Interventional Radiology at BIDMC and was promoted to full Professor of Radiology at HMS in 2022.

For more than 20 years, he has been resolute in his mission to deliver the highest level of healthcare as a clinician-scientist while also serving as a consummate mentor, leader, administrator, ablator, researcher, and colleague. Congratulations on this tremendous honor!
