The literary magazine is produced by the Katherine Swan Ginsburg Humanism in Medicine Program at BIDMC, and co-editors Katherine Holland, MD; Nadia Safar, MD; Megan Sinik, MD; and Jon Crocker, MD, who is also the director of the Humanism in Medicine Program.

The Department of Medicine is thrilled to share Jennifer Potter, MD, has assumed the role of Dean for Students in the Program in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Potter is a world-class clinician and medical educator, who has been deeply committed to our HMS learners. She has served as Interim Dean for Students since October 2025 through a period of transition, and HMS is excited to have Dr. Potter continue to lead the Office of Student Affairs with characteristic warmth, judgment, and steadiness. Kenneth Mukamal, MD, MPH, MA, has assumed the role of Vice Chair for Career Development and Mentoring for the Department of Medicine. A 32-year faculty member and Associate Section Chief for Research in the Division of General Medicine, Dr. Mukamal will support the career growth of our faculty at all levels, accomplished through one-on-one academic counseling sessions, re-evaluation of the annual review and mentorship processes in our Divisions, and continued implementation of an equitable and transparent approach to academic promotion across the Department. Elizabeth Norian, MD, a primary care physician with Healthcare Associates received the 2026 HMFP Outstanding Physician Colleague Award. She was one of 11 physicians selected, and one of 90 nominees named. All were nominated by their peers, and the award recognizes the deeply valued efforts of HMFP, Longwood Specialty Physicians, and Physician Performance physicians who have gone above and beyond in support of a colleague to offer guidance, encouragement, or assistance, during a time of personal or professional need.
