Congratulations to Dr. Sanjeet Narang who has been promoted to Vice Chair for Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. Dr. Narang, who joined our department in 2023, is certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Victor Polshin, MD, has been selected as our next Director of Orthopedic Anesthesia. Dr. Polshin, who joined BIDMC in 2019, has been a floor manager at our main campus and also managed our clinical site at 1 Brookline Place. As director, he will standardize care for orthopedic surgery across our network, help integrate our expanding educational presence at New England Baptist Hospital, and collaborate with orthopedic surgeons to ensure that we continue to provide cutting edge care to these patients. Dr. Polshin received his MD at Boston University School of Medicine. He did his anesthesia residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in New York.

Jessica Liu, MD, PhD, who recently joined the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine (DACCP), has been named a 2025 STAT Wunderkind, an honor that celebrates the most promising early-career researchers in health and medicine across North America. As a new faculty member, Dr. Liu aims to connect the bioengineering and clinical worlds—applying AI, device innovation, and translational science to personalize anesthesia and improve care delivery across all settings.
