Welcoming Dr. Rachel Mojdehbakhsh to the Division of Gynecologic Oncology

The Department of OB/GYN is excited to welcome Rachel Mojdehbakhsh, MD, MS, to the Division of Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Mojdehbakhsh attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin, where she also completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Mojdehbakhsh’s most recent research focuses on diagnostic imaging, treatment disparities, and outcomes in gynecologic cancer. Her second-author work in Obstetrics & Gynecology evaluated ultrasonography-based measurements of endometrial thickness in patients with p53-abnormal endometrial carcinomas, and she has presented on progression-free survival as a surrogate endpoint in ovarian cancer maintenance therapy trials at the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting.

She has also examined disparities in government research funding for endometrial cancer relative to its rising incidence, contributed to a multi-site analysis of radical hysterectomy case volume during the COVID-19 pandemic, and helped develop and test a multiplexed circulating tumor cell assay as a predictive biomarker for optimal cytoreduction in ovarian cancer. Dr. Mojdehbakhsh’s research has been supported by the Raja Al-Niaimi Fellow Award in Surgical Excellence and a BIRCWH Women’s Health Scholar award through the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health.

Beyond her research, Dr. Mojdehbakhsh is active in national society leadership, serving on the Society of Gynecologic Oncology Payment Reform and Quality Subcommittee and as a Board Member-in-Training for the Heartland Association of Gynecologic Oncology. She also developed a laparoscopic ergonomics curriculum for resident simulation training and has mentored medical students pursuing careers in OB/GYN.
