BIDMC OB/GYN Program Ranked #4 in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s (BIDMC) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been ranked #4 in the nation for Obstetrics & Gynecology care in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–2027 Best Hospitals rankings. The department was also recognized as Nationally High Performing in Gynecologic Cancer Surgery.
“This recognition belongs to our entire department. Every day, our team brings our core values of humanity, excellence, and equity to life through the care we provide,” said Blair Wylie, MD, MPH, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at BIDMC. “From routine care to the most complex needs, our patients trust us to be with them at every stage of their journey. It is a privilege to care for them, and they are the reason this work and this recognition are so meaningful.”
The U.S. News & World Report recognition is part of a broader showing for BIDMC in this year’s rankings. The hospital placed among the top 50 hospitals nationwide in eight specialties, and was named the #3 best hospital in the Boston region and #3 best hospital in Massachusetts. Across its specialties and procedures and conditions, BIDMC received 20 high-performing ratings in total.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions for this year’s rankings; fewer than half earned recognition in any of the 37 areas of care assessed. To determine the Best Hospitals rankings, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance using objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and patient experience, drawing on data from more than 800 million patient care records.
