HMFP at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center OB/GYN Thomas Gallant, DO, explains that tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterine cavity and can grow on organs in the pelvis as well as outside of the pelvis, causing pain, inflammation, and possible organ damage.
